Lantern Chain: privacy policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026 · applies to the Android app, version 1.0.0 and later
This policy explains how Lantern Chain ("the app"), published on Google Play by VPC Apps ("we"), handles information. The free browser version (itch.io, Facebook) has its own, shorter policy: Lantern Chain browser version privacy policy.
Summary
- We do not run our own servers, and we never sell your information.
- Your game progress, Daily Challenge streak and settings stay on your device.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob: optional rewarded ads that you choose to watch (for example for a hint or extra undos), and occasional ads between levels after a level is won.
- You can buy "Remove ads" once through Google Play to turn off the ads between levels.
- The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the game is played and to fix crashes.
- No account or sign-in is needed. The app does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your game progress (levels unlocked, stars earned), your Daily Challenge streak and rewards (free hints, unlocked looks) and your settings (appearance, look, sound, colour-blind symbols) only on your device, using Android's standard app storage. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app uses Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC, to show rewarded ads (only when you choose to watch one) and ads between levels. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- your IP address and approximate location derived from it,
- information about your device (model, operating system, language) and how you interact with ads.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's consent tool. You can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → Ad choices. Everywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads). Ads are limited to content suitable for teens.

In-app purchase ("Remove ads")
If you buy "Remove ads", the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive your payment details. The app only learns that the purchase was made, so it can turn off the ads between levels and restore the purchase if you reinstall. Google Play's privacy policy applies to the payment.
Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services of Google LLC, to learn which levels and Daily Challenges are played and completed, how hints are used, and to diagnose crashes. These services collect:
- game events (for example "level 12 won", "hint used"),
- an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system and app version,
- crash reports (technical details of what went wrong).
We use this only in aggregate to improve the game. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not combine it with other information. Google keeps this data for a limited period under its retention settings. More information: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Links to Google Play
The "More games" screen, the rating prompt and "Rate the game" open Google Play. Google Play's own privacy policy applies there.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent information. Information is processed by Google (AdMob, Firebase and Google Play) as described above and is sent over encrypted connections.
Children
The app is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children.
Your choices
You can avoid rewarded ads entirely by never tapping an "AD" button, and turn off the ads between levels with "Remove ads". You can change ad consent in the app (where offered), reset your advertising ID in Android settings, or uninstall the app to stop all collection. To ask about data linked to your device, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this policy before releasing that version and change the "Last updated" date above.
